Intro

This page talks about the Debug Menu in the Mario Kart DS Kiosk Demo. Unfortunately it’s a black screen, so you’d either have to guess or look at the values being changed in an emulator’s memory viewer. If the race demo on the title screen is shown, it can glitch the ingame race.

If you haven’t noticed yet, the value for the emblem editor code (03) was changed to 04. Here are all of the values you can use.

  • 00 title
  • 01 character select
  • 02 race
  • 03 emblem editor
  • 04 black screen – Debug Menu
  • 05 communication error – Has several Mario sprites doing different things on the top screen. Pressing X will change the bottom screen.
  • 06 black screen with first 4 letters of name in bottom right corner of the top screen
  • 07 black screen – Pressing A or start will take you back to the title screen.

About Debug Menu

Here’s some more details on the debug menu.

The first screen of the Debug menu is the mode select screen. The order of selections are: Grand Prix, Time Trials,Battle Mode, VS and Mission Mode.


Grand Prix

1st Screen: Engine Select
Press left and right to change class
Order: 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, 150cc Mirror

2nd Screen: Character Select
Press left and right to change character
Ordering: Mario, DK, Toad, Bowser, Peach, Wario, Yoshi, Luigi, E. Gadd (Toad Model), Daisy (Peach Model), Waluigi (Luigi Model), HVC-012/R.O.B. (Mario Model)

3rd Screen: Kart Select
Press left and right to change kart. Each character's default kart is their Standard Kart. e.g Mario = Standard MR, Gadd = Standard GD, etc.

4th Screen: Player and CPU Settings
Press Up and Down to change Player/Cpu and Left and Right to change the setting.
Order:

  • 1- Player (Default Setting 1)
  • 2- CPU 1 (Default Setting 2)
  • 3- CPU 2 (Default Setting 2)
  • 4- CPU 3 (Default Setting 2)
  • 5- CPU 4 (Default Setting 2)
  • 6- CPU 5 (Default Setting 2)
  • 7- CPU 6 (Default Setting 2)
  • 8- CPU 7 (Default Setting 2)

Setting Order:

  • 1: Player
  • 2: Computer Player
  • 3: Computer Player
  • 4: Ghost

Note: If all entries are set to the "Computer Player" Value, the result will be a CPU race.


5th Screen: Course Selection
