Intro

In the Final MKDS, Split-Up Beach loads. In the Beta MKDS, it only loads on SLOT 2 devices. Why? Here’s the explanation.

Explanation

In the Final ROM, Split-Up Beach doesn't contain water, just blueish dust. So it’s like a beach-like desert. As for the Beta ROM, Split-Up Beach is fully functional, which means that it loads 6 water models at the same time. Since SLOT 2 cards contain internal memory, while SLOT 1 cards have no space on it, SLOT 1 cards can't handle 6 different kind of water. In the Final game, the waters are still in the data, but it’s disabled in the NKM file. Meaning that all cards can handle it.

NeoWynaut has proven the fact that there are so many kind of water in the data. These files come from the Final ROM.

Also by NeoWynaut, before Mario Kart CW Beta 2.0 was released. Watch closely to the water, and look that it keeps changing. Nintendo DS systems usually can't handle it.

While we’re looking here, a video by YamiHoshi, you can clearly see that the "water" is always the same. In fact, that's no water at all! It's just part of the stage, compared to Dessert Hills. And that’s why the DS Systems can handle this stage easily.
